The Host Dinner was held the evening before the Summit, on 9/12, for the Summit Hosts, Platinum and Gold Sponsors, and invited guests to enjoy getting to know each other in advance of the Summit.
The Security Leaders Summit Boston opened up with networking and breakfast in the Sponsor Pavilion and Welcome Remarks by Mary Lou Heastings, CEO of Executive Alliance and Richard Warner, Summit Moderator.
The Morning Keynote, Mary Faulkner, CISO of the Bose Corporation, took the stage and shared Bose’s journey towards the “connected’ environment and the complexities it is bringing to her company in terms of security, risk and investment.
In the interview session, “Game Changers – Driving Innovation,” Doug Graham, VP & CISO of Nuance Communications, discussed the critical areas where he believes he needs to be thinking differently in order to drive innovation, what is driving the need to up his organization’s game plan, and the challenges and successes he expects.
Drew Vanover, Director of Technical Solutions at Symantec + Blue Coat Systems, Platinum Sponsor, presented on “The Industry need for Cloud Generation Security.” Drew spoke about risks and also shared insights into how cloud applications and services can be adopted rapidly and securely.

“Business Technologies for the Future,” Gerald Beuchelt, Chief Security Officer of Demandware, Inc., a Salesforce Companyand Alex Cunningham, Chief Information Security Officer at Commonwealth Financial Network discussed how they evaluate their current arsenal of technology tools, what they believe are the most successful technologies to protect their business, and what technologies have promise for the future.

Aileen Alexander, Senior Client Partner, Co-Leader Global Cybersecurity Practice at Korn Ferry reviewed the landscape that is driving the demand for talent, the three types of information security/technology risk executives emerging, and the key success factors for security leaders.
Justin Dolly, Chief Information Security Officer at Malwarebytes, Gold Sponsor, presented on “The Hidden Enemy: Malvertising and Ransomware.” Justin brought home the fact that malvertising is becoming more sophisticated and prevalent, and is the vehicle of choice for injecting ransomware. He shared misconceptions, how attacks are delivered, and why companies may be at risk-without you even knowing it.
The sessions wrapped up with the Executive Roundtables, where attendees had a chance to discuss a topic of choice with their peers.
